Brenda Lathan

Brenda has 25 years of experience in regional rural economic development.  She has the distinction of being one of 1,200+ certified economic developers world-wide, and she has been recognized for her work in product development and retail development.

 

Brenda is a recent retiree of the Golden Triangle Development Link, where she served as senior vice president.  Her portfolio has more than $6 billion in investments and the creation of 6,000+ jobs.  She has been recognized by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of Mississippi’s Top 50 Business Women; and she has served on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Economic Development Council and the International Council of Shopping Centers. 

 

Brenda currently holds a gubernatorial appointment to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality Commission where she currently serves as past-chair. Lathan is also a member of the Columbus Redevelopment Authority. She is a graduate of Mississippi University for Women where she was the first Black professor in the School of Business. Lathan also graduated from Oklahoma University’s Economic Development Institute and the International Council of Shopping Center’s Retail Development Program at Penn State’s Wharton School of Business.

 

She owns BHL Consulting, LLC, and works as a senior consultant for VisionFirst Advisors.
